Volunteer Spotlight: From IT to Saving Tails
It's the camaraderie and shared passion that keeps me coming back. Saving Grace gives so many dogs a chance at life -- and being part of that is incredibly rewarding.

After retiring and traveling for a year and a half, I found myself restless. A friend said, “I can’t believe you’re not volunteering at Saving Grace!” I hadn’t heard of it, but I looked it up, completed orientation, started my first shift Christmas morning, 2019 and I’ve been doing Wednesday AM Shift ever since.
Over the years, I’ve helped with adoptions, transport, welcoming new dogs, mentoring, fostering, and more. I’ve fostered 20 dogs, including seniors and those with medical challenges- dogs overlooked in shelters. But Saving Grace saw their worth and gave them a second chance.
One of the things I admire most about Saving Grace is how they look past age, condition, or circumstance to give every dog the opportunity to heal and find a home. It’s a mix of sadness and joy when they leave — but knowing they’re going to a loving family makes it all worth it.
