Teddy: Healing Hearts in Hard Times

Teddy is everything we needed. He gave love when we needed it most, and in return, we give him all the love and care he deserves.

I adopted Teddy in the heart of the pandemic — a time that was incredibly difficult for me and so many others. Just months before, I had lost my beloved 12-year-old golden doodle, Shilo, and both my mini golden doodle, Tucker, and I were grieving deeply.

After months of searching and several disappointments, a little voice in my head said, “Just go to a shelter.” That led me to Saving Grace, where I explained I was looking for a small companion for Tucker. As fate would have it, a new group of rescues had just arrived that morning — and among them was a sweet, low-key Shih Tzu mix.

We took a walk, and I instantly knew he was special. I placed a deposit, and after a few months of waiting for his surgery, Teddy came home. He adjusted slowly and gently, and before long, he was ringing the bell to go outside — just like Shilo used to. He’s been nearly perfect from day one.
Teddy brought the love we were missing and helped Tucker heal, too. He’s gentle, playful, and knows when to hide behind me if Tucker gets too rowdy. He reminds me so much of Shilo — and has filled a space in our hearts we weren’t sure could be filled again.

Teddy is everything we needed. He gave love when we needed it most, and in return, we give him all the love and care he deserves.
