Sophie, Coach & Poppy’s Story: A Life Fulfilled by Rescue
Over our 40+ year marriage, we’ve welcomed six rescue dogs into our lives—five of them from Saving Grace. Today, our home is filled with the love and loyalty of Sophie (6), Coach (13+), and Poppy (22 months). I can’t imagine life without them.

We became a two-dog family in 2019 after I retired and my husband began working out of town. With more time at home, we adopted Gummy to keep our girl Rennie company. They were a perfect pair. When Rennie passed, we longed for a new companion and Saving Grace matched us with Sophie. It was love at first sight.
A month later, I did something I’d never done before: I looked at the male dogs on the website. That’s when I saw Coach—a big, grey-muzzled senior with soulful eyes. I was a goner. He joined our family soon after Sophie, and brought a calm, wise presence to our pack.
When we lost Gummy, the house felt quieter and so back to SG I went—and once again, they worked their matchmaking magic. Poppy came home and brought new life to our co-ed crew. She’s a hoot, and even Coach has warmed up to her playful energy- sort of.
It was owning multiple dogs that turned me into a full-blown dog lover. Watching their loyalty to one another, their affection, their communication, their joy—it’s indescribable. That’s what fulfills me. And it’s all thanks to the tireless care and heart Molly and the entire Saving Grace team pour into these amazing, deserving souls. They don’t just rescue dogs—they build families. I’m hooked. And forever grateful.
