Skye’s Sweet Rescue: A New Chapter of Love

In April 2024, I walked into Saving Grace with a friend who had recently adopted a dog there. I wasn’t planning to bring anyone home—I had just lost my best friend Baylee after 14 wonderful years together. My heart was still heavy, and I thought I wasn’t ready.

In April 2024, I walked into Saving Grace with a friend who had recently adopted a dog there. I wasn’t planning to bring anyone home—I had just lost my best friend Baylee after 14 wonderful years together. My heart was still heavy, and I thought I wasn’t ready.

As we toured the facility, I felt myself pulling back, unsure if I could open my heart again. That’s when my friend pointed and said, “Look at that one!”

There she was—Skye. Sitting quietly beside the doghouse while five other puppies barked and clamored for attention. She wasn’t trying to impress anyone. She was just… waiting. Like she knew her person was coming.

When I held her for the first time, she gently placed her paw over my eye—and that was it. I was hers.

I thought she looked like a blue Doberman, but her soulful eyes (which inspired her name, Skye) told a different story. Turns out she’s a mix of Pit, Staffy, and Chow—breeds I never imagined myself owning after 14 years with my sweet 13 lb Yorkie-poo. But Skye has been the most loving, gentle, well-behaved dog.

Oh, and yes—I counted over 115 toys the other day. She might be a little spoiled… but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
