Maddie’s Legacy: A Life Transformed Through Rescue
Sandi and I first visited Saving Grace hoping to meet a special pup we’d seen on the website. As we waited, a beautiful dog gently walked up, tucked her head under Sandi’s arm — and just like that, we were in love.

Her name was Maddie (aka Pumpkin), and she had just arrived from a shelter in the mountains after being rescued from a hoarding situation. The shelter manager personally drove her to Saving Grace, knowing Molly and the team would find her the loving home she deserved.

Maddie became part of our family and blessed our lives for 12 years. She passed away this June at the age of 17, leaving behind a legacy of love. Maddie had a calming effect on every person and creature she met. A neighbor once said, “Maddie has a friend in every house on this street.” She had a gentle spirit that touched everyone — even the deer in our yard didn’t flinch when she walked among them.
We’ll always be grateful to Molly and the Saving Grace team for bringing Maddie into our lives. Rescue truly is a team effort — and thanks to that effort, Maddie found her way to us and gave us more love than we ever imagined.
We miss her every morning when she’s not snuggled beside us, but we carry her spirit with us always.
