Lily’s Story: A Second Chance
We weren’t sure we’d adopt that day. After losing our 16-year-old dog years earlier, we were finally ready—but none of the dogs felt like the right fit. Just as we were about to leave, a volunteer suggested we meet the “fun-sized” dogs. We weren’t looking for a small dog, but then we saw Lily.

She wasn’t barking or jumping—just sitting quietly, watching with eyes that held sadness, resilience, and hope. When I held her, I knew instantly: she was meant to come home with us.
The early days were hard. Lily was cautious, especially around my husband. We nearly returned her—but the day before, she wagged her tail when he came home. That tiny gesture changed everything.
Over time, Lily blossomed. She became playful, affectionate, and full of personality. Her silly dances for treats and her loyalty remind us daily of the power of love and patience.
We didn’t just save Lily—she saved us. Rescue is a second chance for everyone.
