Fraggle: A Gamble Worth Taking
I had never adopted through a shelter or rescue before, and after losing my previous dog, I was ready to open my heart again. I’d heard great things about Saving Grace — their thoughtful process and the welcoming farm environment made me feel confident I was in the right place.

On my 2nd visit, I met a stinky, matted little mop of a dog named Oatmeal, fresh from a shelter and not yet ready for interviews. He had other plans, and rubbed his face on my shoes, climbed into my lap, and stayed there — quiet, content, and full of love.
I didn’t know his age, health, or temperament. He hadn’t seen a vet or been in a foster home. I’m not usually impulsive, but something told me he was worth the risk. I adopted him that day and renamed him Fraggle.
Turns out, Fraggle was a 10-year-old senior with a long list of health needs. I called him my “little fixer-upper.” Through every vet visit and challenge, he remained joyful, playful, and affectionate. Now, over a year later — and with no teeth left — he’s healthier and happier than ever. Fraggle is living proof that Rescue is a Team Effort — and that sometimes, the biggest rewards come from taking a chance on the ones who need us most.
