Fia: From Heartworm Positive to Home

I fell in love the moment I met Gazelle (now Fia), a 4-yo who had recently weaned her litter, and knew right away she was the dog for me.

I fell in love the moment I met Gazelle (now Fia), a 4-yo who had recently weaned her litter, and knew right away she was the dog for me.

Fia was heartworm positive, and I didn’t know what treatment would involve. Saving Grace shared the details of the process in full, removing the fear, uncertainty, cost, and risk. That reassurance was all I needed to feel good about bringing Fia home through the foster-to-adopt program. It was easy to bring Fia back to campus for treatments– something I would not have been able to afford through a private veterinarian’s office due to the cost.

Saving Grace’s heartworm treatment program made it possible for me to adopt Fia, giving this little momma dog a second chance while also bringing me the companion I needed. As she settles into her home, Fia’s confidence continues to grow. She’s a sweet-tempered, smart pup– and she and Tormund the cat have become great buddies.

I’m so grateful for Saving Grace and this program that helped me adopt.
