Fernando: Spoiled as He Should Be

I foster for Saving Grace because I love giving back to pups who wouldn't otherwise have a chance at adoption. This is especially true for medical fosters who need extra care and love through their recovery and healing. Seeing them get families of their own is heartwarming and rewarding.

My soft spot for fostering pugs brought Fernando into my life as a medical foster. Fernando was extremely sick with an upper respiratory infection/pneumonia when he came home with me. A Pug’s appetite is a sight to behold if you are fortunate enough to experience it. This sweetheart wouldn’t eat anything, not even a McDonald’s biscuit! This was very concerning and unusual. The med team (clinic, foster medical team, and visiting vets) was alerted to his current state and took great care of him, giving him fluids, changing his medication, and checking on him until he made a full recovery!

Fernando remains a family member as my mom ended up adopting him! She had recently lost her black pug and was excited to rescue another one. He is the center of her world and is aptly spoiled. He’s living his best pug life at the NC coast thanks to Saving Grace and their medical staff.
