Bonnet: The Pirate Who Stole Our Hearts and Dakota
After losing our beloved Wolfgang Pup, a Saving Grace rescue who was part of our lives for 12 years, our home felt empty. We soon realized we had room in our hearts for more.

We remembered Albany’s story online—her thin coat, heartworm diagnosis, and the signs of a hard life. At the rescue, my husband spotted her through a fence, standing on her hind legs, tail wagging, saying “Look at me!”
When she snuggled into us, we knew. We named her Bonnet, after the pirate Stede Bonnet—because she stole our hearts.
With love, medicine, and good food, Bonnet healed and became our devoted companion. She chose my husband as her person and has been by his side through every challenge. She’s the best girl we could’ve asked for.
Then came Dakota, a foster fail who quickly became part of our hearts and home. Two lowrider black-and-white girls who filled our days with laughter and love.
