If a dog or cat is taken to the Robeson County Animal Shelter, there’s a pretty good chance it won’t get out of there alive. Last year, more than a 90% chance. Molly and Saving Grace want to change that.

Since 2004, Saving Grace has rescued about 23,000 animals. Now they need saving and it’s going to take about $100,000.

Most shelters need to be empty in order to take in stray or displaced pets after a hurricane. One Wake Forest animal shelter has been hard at work rescuing pets in the path of Hurricane Dorian. In the past few days, volunteers from Saving Grace have taken in 90 dogs.

In another heartbreaking cruelty case, Saving Grace and several other rescue organizations across the country created a safe haven for dogs, pigs, a goat and some chickens.

Bandit may have lost a leg, but he still has his spirit. The dog is bouncing back after an amputation because someone put a rubber band around his leg. Saving Grace gave this spunky pup a new leash on life!

The woman behind the non-profit, Molly Goldston, is more than a dog lover. She’s the executive director of the one-of-a-kind shelter in Wake Forest. “We take in dogs from all across North Carolina from different shelters where they have a high intake and not always enough resources to provide necessary care and adoptions,” said Goldston.

Saving Grace Animals for Adoption was never supposed to have 80 dogs ready for adoption on its 7-acre farm. It started in 2004 with just one volunteer and few dogs, but now has close to 300 humans helping digs find their forever home.
