I fell in love the moment I met Gazelle (now Fia), a 4-yo who had recently weaned her litter, and knew right away she was the dog for me.

I have fostered over a hundred dogs from Saving Grace– and don’t plan to stop. Every dog deserves to know what love feels like, especially those who have been overlooked or are hurting the most. Fostering can be emotional and, at times, takes a toll, but it provides a safe place when they have nowhere else to go. I give a piece of myself to each foster with a gentle hand, helping ease their pain, and showing them they matter. Even if you can’t change their whole story, you can add happiness to today, changing their future. That means everything to me.

Remy

“To me adoption means bringing home a member of your family who was always meant to be there.”

Fenway

“When adopting a dog, I see it as saving two dogs: the one dog you adopted, and also opening up a space at a rescue that another dog desperately needs.”

Raven

“Raven is a very spunky girl who adds a ton of laughter to our home. Ball is life.”

Rex's Story

When we met as a puppy, Rex had already been through something most dogs never experience. At 4 months, his back hind leg had to be amputated. It’s hard to wrap your head around something that big happening to something so small.

My family adopted our first dog from Saving Grace in 2016. I was still in high school and under 18, so I couldn’t volunteer on-site, but we started weekend hosting—and I found so much joy in being part of it.

They say you rescue the dog—but if you’ve adopted through Saving Grace, you know the truth: it’s the other way around. Axel came into my life in 2023, and he’s been my joy, my comfort, and my constant companion ever since. Rescue isn’t just about giving a dog a home—it’s about love, healing, and finding the one who brings light into your life.

Kiera

“We will continue to support Saving Grace, because we understand the overwhelming need in North Carolina to provide homes to the countless dogs in shelters across the state. Hopefully, through continued efforts, we can help make a difference in the lives of so many deserving dogs, by providing them with love and care and helping them along the way to finding their forever home!”

Oakley

“Oakley has brought a new energy into our lives that we cherish so much, and watching Oakley and Ellie’s bond grow each day is so special and heartwarming!”

We adopted Muppet (formerly Sable) from Saving Grace on 12/20/2024, and she quickly became our whole world. Just weeks later, she suffered a sudden, life-threatening anaphylactic reaction. Thanks to the quick action of our vet, Hope Mills Road Animal Hospital, and the incredible team at NC State Veterinary Hospital, Muppet survived—despite being in critical condition.

Indigo

We always knew we wanted to adopt from Saving Grace after hearing about amazing experiences from our friends and family. Indigo, an 8-year-old, timid girl, came into our lives with the weekend sleepover program last summer and we absolutely fell in love.

Dottie Valentine

"Adopted on Valentine's Day, her full name is "Dottie Valentine". Saving Grace changed our lives."

Aria

“I can honestly say Aria is my best friend and truly a soul mate dog.”

I was drawn to Saving Grace because they give safety and hope to dogs who might not survive elsewhere.

Gus

“Adoption is so special for these pups. Every pet should be able to experience love, protection, and happiness from a family. It was my goal to be able to give a pup those feelings and to let them know how loved they are.”

Terrance

There was a moment when Terrence was sleeping on my lap, and I realized—he was my whole world. I couldn’t imagine life without him.

Rosie

“I don’t think I found Rosie; I’m pretty sure she found me.”

I had never adopted through a shelter or rescue before, and after losing my previous dog, I was ready to open my heart again. I’d heard great things about Saving Grace — their thoughtful process and the welcoming farm environment made me feel confident I was in the right place.

In our 24 years of marriage, my husband Drew and I have rescued 10 dogs—6 of them from Saving Grace. Each one has added a unique thread to the fabric of our lives, and together they’ve created a story of love, laughter, and second chances.

Joey

“Saving Grace does an amazing job connecting dogs with families.”

This family’s journey from grief to joy is a beautiful reminder of how rescue brings healing.

It would be an honor to share Geralt's story. I want Saving Grace to thrive in its work and for others to see the great things that you do. I believe if SG hadn't rescued Geralt and put him up for adoption he would have had zero chance to live as long as he did.

In April 2024, I walked into Saving Grace with a friend who had recently adopted a dog there. I wasn’t planning to bring anyone home—I had just lost my best friend Baylee after 14 wonderful years together. My heart was still heavy, and I thought I wasn’t ready.

Clancy

“The best way I can compare it would be to take you unknowingly to a foreign country where you do not speak the language, without any money or direction and leave you to figure everything out. Most all our dogs are very smart but no one has ever invested the time in them.”

Oksana

We typically have at least two funsize fosters in our home. As a result, I’ve had many wonderful interactions with the vet team. They truly care about each dog and work incredibly hard to provide them with the medical care they need. Each surgery day, the crates are full with dogs awaiting care.

From surgery prep to recovery support, Jess Agee is part of the clinic team that makes healing possible at Saving Grace. Her work shows how compassion, medical expertise, and teamwork come together to give dogs with complex needs a real chance at a new beginning.

"I adopted my sweet Mr. Boo 18 years ago from Saving Grace. He was the heart of our family—growing up alongside our six children and later becoming a companion to our twelve grandchildren.

At Saving Grace, rescue does not end when a dog arrives at the farm. It reaches its turning point when a dog meets the person who will love them for life. That moment is where Lee Collins' work comes into focus. As Adoptions Team Lead, he helps adoption volunteers guide dogs and potential adopters toward each other to make the most successful matches.

Melo

“If it wasn't for Saving Grace, we never would have had the opportunity to share our lives with Melo. He's such a bright shining light of positivity in our lives. It's hard to imagine how things were without him because he truly enriches our lives.”

Shadow

"Two years ago, I lost my 16 yr old Springer Spaniel, Jackson. A few months later, I took my planned retirement and wanted to keep myself occupied so I volunteered as a Foster."

It's the camaraderie and shared passion that keeps me coming back. Saving Grace gives so many dogs a chance at life -- and being part of that is incredibly rewarding.

After losing our beloved dog Jiro in December 2020, I wasn’t sure I could open my heart again. But in summer 2021, I decided to volunteer with Saving Grace—and it changed my life.

Rex

“The process was fun and very much like speed dating for dogs.”

I adopted Coco from Saving Grace—and I honestly can’t say who rescued who.

Cooper

“Finding Saving Grace Animals for Adoption was surely one of the best things that ever happened in my life.”

Lilly

Amythyst (now Lilly) and Travolta (now Travey) came into our lives with their own stories and struggles—especially Lilly, who had endured so much. But today, they are the sweetest, most loving dogs we’ve ever known. They’re inseparable, and together they’ve completed our family in the most beautiful way.

The passion, compassion, and darn hard work that goes into this organization is mind-boggling.

Elora

“We can’t imagine life without our Elora, and we’re grateful for Saving Grace and the wonderful care you provide for these very deserving pets.”

Zoey's Story

We adopted Zoey (formerly Tigere) just two months after losing our two beloved dogs. The grief was heavy, and our home felt unbearably quiet. We weren’t sure we were ready—but we knew love was waiting.

Lydia

“It is very satisfying to give a dog who is down on her luck, through no fault of her own, another chance at having a happy life in a safe permanent place.”

JEtt

We met Jett (formerly Brandon) during a weekend foster event and instantly knew we wanted to make it official. One visit to the puppy pens at Saving Grace, and we found our match—a mellow, cuddly terrier mix who’s been winning hearts ever since.

I don’t remember the exact moment when I knew Charlie was an angel who saved us — but it didn’t take long. He was part of our forever world as soon as he entered it.

Lizzie & Laila

We adopted Lizzie, a terrier, from Saving Grace a couple of years ago. We originally came to meet a different dog, but she didn’t click with our boxer, Laila. Then Lizzie came out—red tag and all—and she and Laila hit it off instantly.

Zara

“I meet so many dogs out that are from Saving Grace, and they are all truly gems and they have a lot to do with the rescue group itself. They set everyone up for success.”

Boone

My son and I adopted Boone when he was just 14 weeks old. This year, he turned 7 — and watching him grow up has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

Birdie

“For the past year I have been volunteering at Saving Grace and love working with the puppies. I am truly grateful to be part of this outstanding and caring organization.”

Bruce & Harley

Bruce came into our lives in the spring of 2022. We saw his photo online and instantly felt a connection. When we arrived at Saving Grace later that day, we were nervous—he had just arrived at the farm. But there he was, the last of his litter, waiting quietly. It felt like fate.

After losing our beloved Wolfgang Pup, a Saving Grace rescue who was part of our lives for 12 years, our home felt empty. We soon realized we had room in our hearts for more.

Sophie, Coach & Poppy

Over our 40+ year marriage, we’ve welcomed six rescue dogs into our lives—five of them from Saving Grace. Today, our home is filled with the love and loyalty of Sophie (6), Coach (13+), and Poppy (22 months). I can’t imagine life without them.

Lilian came to Saving Grace from a county shelter, blind and in obvious pain. Her eyes were infected and bulging with no specialized care available at the county shelter due to the time and resources needed to get her healthy. First order of business was to get antibiotics and pain medicine and then keep her well fed and comfortable to ensure she was as healthy as possible for surgery. The clinic at Saving Grace removed Lilian’s eyes and her pain. The clinic vet and the techs were amazing and made sure Lilian got the best care during her long recovery period.

Hooper

“Their loving nature, and boundless energy have brought a vibrant spirit into our home, which gives us joy.”

We adopted our doggie, Charlie (Wylie at the time), the same day we met him.

Medical fosters like Brooke turn urgent medical cases into adoption success stories. With skill, patience, and close support from the Saving Grace clinic team, she helps dogs heal and rediscover life as beloved companions.

Shadow

“We adopted Shadow from Saving Grace 3 years ago. Maybe I should say he adopted us then :).”

In the Saving Grace clinic, Robin Myers is often the first steady hand a dog encounters on their path to healing. Her expertise and compassion help turn injury, illness, and fear into comfort, recovery, and a real chance at a forever home.

I wasn’t sure I was ready. After months of quietly scrolling through dog profiles, falling in love with sweet faces but hesitating to commit, I finally decided to begin my search in earnest. Life had thrown me some challenges, and I was looking for something—or someone—to help me find my way back to joy.

“I’ve been fostering for a few years now, and Mama dogs with newborns are my absolute favorite. It’s emotional, hard, and messy—but seeing them adopted, especially the Mamas, makes it all worth it.”

We adopted our senior dog from Saving Grace three years ago, and he’s been the perfect addition to our family. He came to the rescue underweight, heartworm positive, and in need of ear treatment and eye surgery. At 10 years old, most shelters would’ve considered him unadoptable—but Saving Grace gave him a second chance and covered all his medical care.

Sunkist

Sunny (formerly Sunkist) was pulled out of a rural shelter pregnant, heartworm positive and in need of an eye operation. After her pups were delivered and placed, she was spayed, treated for heartworm, and microchipped by Saving Grace. She also finally received her much-needed eye surgery.

Shay

Shay was a mystery- underweight upon arrival at Saving Grace, most likely had puppies and had been a stray for a long time, and yet clearly been someone’s pet—housebroken and well-mannered. She didn’t respond to basic commands like “Dinner?” or “Walk?” until a neighbor greeted her with “Hola, perrito,” and she lit up with excitement. Puzzle solved! She came from a Spanish-speaking home and is now bilingual!

Rosscoe

“Rosscoe is a fetching fool which helps in the exercising dept.”

Kristy discovered a new calling through fostering and medical support work.

“I’d heard about Saving Grace for a long time, and when I finally went through orientation, I was hooked. I felt needed—and the dogs needed me.”

Koda

“Sugar, Now Koda, has been an absolute blessing to our family and I couldn't imagine not having her in our lives. Seeing Koda's smile, yes, she smiles, after a hard day makes any bad feelings go away. “

Sadie

“We are so grateful for Saving Grace and all the work that you do. Sadie is living her best life!”

I foster for Saving Grace because I love giving back to pups who wouldn't otherwise have a chance at adoption. This is especially true for medical fosters who need extra care and love through their recovery and healing. Seeing them get families of their own is heartwarming and rewarding.

This supporter was drawn to Saving Grace’s mission of rescuing dogs from shelters and giving them a safe, loving environment.

Sunny

“Adopting Sunny, formerly Sunkist, in 2019 has been the greatest gift. I am forever grateful for my best friend.”

We adopted our doodle Max from Saving Grace and couldn’t be happier.

Rufus and Matilda

“They make us laugh many times a day and we know that this adoption is one of the best things we could have done!”

I often say, “My therapist has a wet nose,” and it couldn’t be truer.

Ace and his BFF

I’m so grateful to Saving Grace for creating such a nurturing environment for these wonderful dogs and for helping me find my new best friend.

Bumblebee

“I don’t know where to start with how much joy Bumblebee has brought us. Daily she makes us laugh. She has the best “side eye” we’ve ever seen hands down. We know she’s judging us it’s ok.”

I started giving to Saving Grace after adopting my dog Velma.

Since October 2023, we have been blessed to foster over 100 pups for Saving Grace. It is truly wonderful to witness their transformation from the moment we pick them up—often too scared to leave their crates—to the day they find their forever homes. We love fostering large groups at once, as the pups seem to find comfort in each other, building confidence and developing wonderful temperaments together.

During the COVID lockdown in 2020, my newly graduated family and I began fostering with Saving Grace. We made it through three pups without adopting—until Ginny (then “Kelsey”), a three-month-old half-boxer puppy, arrived.

Elle

“I'm sure you get this from dog owners all the time, but Elle is not just a pet, she is a member of our family, and we wake up every day as excited as she is to spend time together.”

Goose

“Adoption has meant so much more than just bringing a new dog into my life; it has meant expanding my personal pack to new members that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It has created so much love, joy, and excitement into my life that I could not get from anything else other than my dog. Adoption has created so much additional value in my life through my dog.”

Wally

“Adopting our sweet hound, Wally, from Saving Grace was one of the best decisions we have made as a family.”

Oliver

Thank you, Saving Grace, for helping me find Oliver. He didn’t just fill a void—he brought joy back into my life.

Pickles

“Adoption to me means providing a forever home for a furry family member. Adoption is forever as family is forever. It is an opportunity to bring the biggest blessing into your home.”

What drew me to Saving Grace was the flexibility of fostering and the amazing support from the foster team. I started as a weekend host, then fostered single dogs, pairs, and even a mama with her puppies!

We adopted our sweet girl from Saving Grace after seeing her on Facebook and meeting her foster dad.

Honey

On June 2, 2015, I met my Saving Grace dog in the garden. She was about 4–5 years old, and the moment she locked eyes with me, I knew she was special. Her bio said, “If you’re looking for a dog who loves to lay in the sun and forgets to be fed, Melody is for you.” I brought her home and renamed her Honey—because she was the sweetest dog I’d ever met.

Teddy

Teddy is everything we needed. He gave love when we needed it most, and in return, we give him all the love and care he deserves.

I was first introduced to Saving Grace through the Hiking Program. The chance to enjoy a beautiful hike with a wonderful dog got me hooked. From there, it was the welcoming volunteers and amazing pups that kept me coming back.

Mary Ann’s Journey Home

Mary Ann came to Saving Grace needing double entropion surgery on her eyes. She spent more than a month in recovery with a loving foster. Currently, Mary Ann is in our foster-to-adopt program while she undergoes treatment for heartworms. Her care would not have been possible without the amazing clinic team.

When we met Nicko at Saving Grace, she was underweight, recovering from shotgun wounds, and carried herself with quiet dignity. She crossed one paw over the other—something she did for the rest of her life—and looked up at us with calm, knowing eyes. I was hesitant to adopt, but in that moment, I knew she was the one.

Annie (AKA Tonks)

Within six weeks of losing our Dutch shepherd rescue Hans, we were at Saving Grace to find another companion. We had intended to wait after having 8 wonderful years with Hans, but we were ready. "Tonks", a lab-shepherd mix, was introduced to us frozen with fear and in need of deep healing.

Nine years ago, I was serving in the Peace Corps in Vanuatu when I got the heartbreaking news that my mom’s health was declining. I flew home just in time to be with her as she passed. Afterward, I returned to finish my service and traveled through Southeast Asia before coming back to Raleigh—where the weight of grief truly settled in.

We adopted Remi (formerly Starburst) from Saving Grace’s Candy Litter, and she’s been the sweetest addition to our family ever since.

Sandy

After our dog of 17 years died our house was empty without the love of a dog. We arrived to see “Oakley” & it was love at first sight for her & my husband.

Maddie

We visited Saving Grace in April 2023 and met several wonderful dogs—but Maddie (then “Flip”), a frisky terrier mix, quickly won us over. The clean, welcoming environment made a lasting impression, and we left with Maddie, her paperwork, and a whole lot of excitement.

Kendra

When Ruby arrived at Saving Grace—then known as Jocelyn—she needed more than time and patience. She had recently raised puppies, was shy and anxious, and tested positive for heartworm. For many dogs in her position, the road to recovery is long and expensive.

This year, my wife and I will foster around 50 dogs through Saving Grace’s Fun-Size program—helping pups transition from high-kill shelters to loving homes.

After saying goodbye to our beloved SG alum Baxter, we returned to Saving Grace hoping to find a new companion. Within 20 minutes of meeting Finn (formerly Quartz), we knew he was meant to come home with us.

Phoebe

Two years ago, Jen's family lost their lost beloved dog at the same time her husband was battling cancer. When life finally slowed down, they knew they wanted to adopt from Saving Grace, and so they started looking. 3-legged Phoebe caught her eye but her son wanted a puppy, so they went on site for an appt thinking they were going home with someone different.

Rescue in action

Every Tuesday, Dr. Liz lends her expertise to the dogs of Saving Grace, providing medical support that makes recovery and adoption possible. Her commitment reflects how skill, compassion, and teamwork power real transformation for dogs in need.

It fills my heart knowing our support helps local dogs find their forever families.

Poppy

“We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have met, adopted, and welcomed Poppy into our lives.”

"Since moving to North Carolina in 2011, Saving Grace has been our go-to for finding furry family members. We first discovered them through a Leith Toyota commercial in 2012—and we’ve been loyal ever since."

I adopted my dog from Saving Grace over two years ago. He came from an abusive hoarding situation—terrified, shaking, and unwilling to eat or go outside.

This supporter helps Saving Grace not only through donations and shopping at the SG store, but also by spreading the word to others looking for a furry companion.

Totes

We adopted Totes (formerly Totally) in May 2025 as a heartworm‑positive rescue. Saving Grace made adoption possible by providing her heartworm treatment on site, allowing us to avoid local veterinary costs of upwards of $1,700. This allowed us to welcome her into our home without a significant financial burden.

I adopted a beagle and fell in love with the mission. I’ve been volunteering and adopting ever since.

Once again, Saving Grace gave us the most precious gift — a beautiful, playful, loving addition to our family.

Jacqueline K

I started fostering nearly three years ago without fully knowing what I was getting into—only knowing I wanted to help. My own dog is a rescue who came through foster care, and that made it feel personal.

Dewy

Dewy came to Saving Grace with double cherry eyes and bad ear infections. He sweetly let his foster take great care of him with all the eye drops and care he required through not one, but two corrective surgeries!

This volunteer finds joy in the simple moments: the freedom of the dogs, the quiet companionship, and the transformation that happens when a scared dog becomes confident and carefree.

When we unexpectedly lost our dog and felt the absence of a family pet, a friend recommended we try the Weekend Sleepover Program at Saving Grace. Horst (now Jack), our second foster, was happily out of the puppy stage but bigger than our previous pets by far. Lifting him into the car was an adventure! He howled the entire drive home, sharing his displeasure. As it turned out, the secret to peaceful, love‑soaked joyrides was simply a head in someone’s lap. The cold weather allowed us a few extra sleepover days and we chose him with all our hearts.

Ranger and Dakota

“The dogs live on an incredible facility called "The Farm" that is also the home of the founder, Molly. It is akin to a Disneyland for dogs, filled with loving volunteers and some great facilities to house the dogs while they await their permanent home.”

Houston

“Adoption has meant the world to us as it has helped us build our own little family and help rescue dogs that may otherwise not have a home.”

"After losing our beloved boxer Mason, we weren’t sure we’d ever be ready for another dog. The house felt empty, and the pain of that loss was deep. But eight months later, we found ourselves missing the joy of coming home to a wagging tail and a loyal friend."

My partner and I adopted Daphne (formerly “Daffy”) from Saving Grace on March 19, 2025 — and she’s been brightening our lives ever since. With her fun puppy energy, adventurous spirit, and sweet cuddles, she fit right in from day one, especially with her new big brother, Rocko. I can’t imagine our lives without Daphne being a part of it.

Maddie's Legacy

Sandi and I first visited Saving Grace hoping to meet a special pup we’d seen on the website. As we waited, a beautiful dog gently walked up, tucked her head under Sandi’s arm — and just like that, we were in love.

Joel

“Thank you to saving Grace for such an amazing partner in Joel. He’s become a part of my heart and watching his snoot get gray is the greatest honor and sadness of my life.”

Benny

“Our adoption experience at Saving Grace was exceptional and we highly recommend it to all of Benny’s admirers.”

After losing our beloved rescue dog, Burger, our hearts needed healing.
That’s when Wally (formerly Wallaby) came into our lives—and wow, has he kept us entertained!

Foster story - Brenda

While expecting our first baby boy, fostering became very important to me. I visited several shelters to see where volunteering would have the most impact. That's when I came across Saving Grace and found that puppy sleepovers were an option!

We adopted Cleveland—now Toffy Toy—on October 1, 2021, as an emotional support dog for my wife, Maria. From the moment we met him, everything changed. Toffy brought joy, healing, and connection to our whole family, including our daughter Mayda.

Rescue does not only happen on the front lines. Kim Lassiter’s behind-the-scenes work keeps the farm running, the team supported, and the dogs moving forward, proving that organization, compassion, and readiness are powerful forces in rescue in action.

We adopted our rescue dog Abby from Saving Grace in 2004, and I started volunteering soon after. From the beginning, Saving Grace has been driven by heart, vision, and incredible effort—and watching it grow over the past 20 years has been amazing.

Jax

Jax was our second foster—but our first medical foster—just three months old when we brought him home from Saving Grace in May 2025. He was incredibly sick: emaciated, covered in mange, and suffering from a severe respiratory infection that turned into pneumonia. He lay in his crate struggling to breathe, with a deep, painful cough—it was heartbreaking to watch.

Just a week ago, we welcomed York into our home for what we thought would be a simple “weekend sleepover.” The plan was to give him a little break from the rescue—a few cozy days before he returned to the farm. But York had other plans.

Bernie and Buddy

“Thank you, Saving Grace, for giving us a wonderful retirement! We came to save a dog, but we came home with dogs that have saved us!”

Sebastian

Sebastian came into my life when we both needed healing, him from neck wound surgery and me from a recent breast cancer diagnosis. He urgently needed foster care, and I immediately said yes. The next day, I went to Saving Grace to pick up a very fluffy, and skinny dog named Sebastian.

“I moved to North Carolina just over a year ago, and shortly after, my dog passed away from prostate cancer. I went to Saving Grace looking for a dog who needed a forever home—and I found Cletus.”

Dunkin

“Adoption means family. It means the dog choosing you as their furever home and us making sure they never have sad feelings again.”

Golda

Golda is a wonderful addition to our family. She loves to go hiking with the family and spending warm afternoons lounging on the back porch. We are so happy to have her in our lives!

Goose - Foster to Adopt program

Goose is the silliest, sweetest, gentlest girl, and we are so lucky to have her. Her personality showed through the minute we met her. Belly rubs were met with opening and closing her mouth like she was chomping on air. Her antics resulted in her name, silly Goose.

Endeavor

“Saving Grace is one of my happy places.”

Gracie didn’t just fill a home with love—she also found a best friend in her big brother, a rescued ex-racing greyhound.

We adopted our sweet dog Ghost (formerly Atlanta) from Saving Grace. The moment we stepped through the gates, we felt an immediate love for the work they do.

I didn’t think I could ever love another dog. But someone encouraged me to visit Saving Grace—and I’m so glad I did.

Majlak

When I first met Majlak (formerly Copperpot), he was shy, scared, and unsure of the world—including me. But with patience, love, and plenty of good food, he slowly came out of his shell.

Bailey came into my life as a tiny puppy in 2016, and for the past nine years, she’s been my constant—through relationships, job changes, health scares, and everything in between. She’s licked my tears, soothed me to sleep with her little snores, and made me smile every day with her toy monkey in tow.

Dr. Eric intro

Dr. Eric brings decades of experience and a deep commitment to access and equity in animal care to Saving Grace. Through skilled practice, teaching, and collaboration, he helps ensure that dogs who might otherwise have no options receive the care and chance they deserve.

When Badger arrived at Saving Grace, he had already endured more than most dogs should. He had been hit by a car, suffering from a shattered pelvis and severe injuries to his back leg. As he recovered from those physical wounds, another challenge became clear: Badger was also heartworm positive.

We signed up to foster a dog for the weekend — just a short stay to help out. But when we arrived, the pup we were supposed to take home had just been adopted. That’s when Scrappy came into our lives.

Rescuing shelter dogs not only saves lives, but it changes them. We’ve always believed in adoption, and Saving Grace made that belief a reality.

Gidget

At Saving Grace, most dogs find their families within about 45 days. Then there are dogs like Gidget.

Maple May

“I would love to gloat over my Maple May. She has completed my home and my heart. I couldn’t imagine life without her.”

“I love dogs and I love people—so being an adoption counselor at Saving Grace is something I truly look forward to. Every time I walk through the gates, greeted by pups, friendly volunteers, and music, my heart feels full.”

I’ve volunteered at shelters, but now I support Saving Grace by educating the public on how animal rescue impacts entire communities.

We adopted a wonderful dog from Saving Grace—and it’s been life-changing.

Ruby Rooster

“Ivy, now known as Ruby, was destined to be a Fouts. We accepted her limitations, we knew she would never be the tail wagging super happy dog, but we wanted to SAVE her. With GRACE. And we did.”

Trooper

“Trooper and I adopted each other about 2 1/2 years ago.”

Double the love, double the lives saved.

When one longtime adopter offered to match $10,000 in donations, the Saving Grace community came together — and met the challenge in record time, proving that rescue truly is a team effort.

We’re “bird launchers”, the hard-core version of empty nesters 😊. Our kids are in college, and we’ve dedicated our abundant free time to providing a safe, loving, nurturing, foster home for dogs. Despite arriving scared, confused, dirty, and hungry, the dogs are trusting, welcoming, loving, and so grateful for a home, temporary or more.

Lily

We weren’t sure we’d adopt that day. After losing our 16-year-old dog years earlier, we were finally ready—but none of the dogs felt like the right fit. Just as we were about to leave, a volunteer suggested we meet the “fun-sized” dogs. We weren’t looking for a small dog, but then we saw Lily.

Almost a year ago, we adopted CeCe (formerly Cookies and Cream) from Saving Grace. We were still grieving the loss of our previous dogs and hesitant to open our hearts again—but CeCe was exactly what we needed.

This volunteer fostered through the Fun Size program and fell in love with the variety of dog personalities.

Dakota and his horse buddy

“When the volunteer at saving Grace picked Dakota up and put her in my arms, I had no idea how much my world was about to change.”

I support Saving Grace by donating in memory of friends who’ve lost their beloved pets. I also gift personalized handmade cards with their pet’s name and a meaningful quote—keepsakes that are always deeply appreciated.

Charlie came into our lives in 2010, a tiny 3-year-old Chihuahua who stole our hearts the moment we saw him. It was our first visit to Saving Grace, and as we walked the property with Molly, we spotted him up on a hill. I picked him up, and he immediately cuddled into me. It was love at first sight.

Drawn in by Saving Grace’s strong online presence and reputation, this volunteer found a place where compassion meets organization—and where every role makes a difference.

Saving Grace Saves

Susan K. gives to Saving Grace because she has a heart for the dogs that often go unnoticed — and she sees that same heart worn proudly on Saving Grace’s sleeve.

“I met my first Saving Grace pup, Alpine (now Ruffin), when I was just 9 years old.

Saving Grace
