Ginny: The Foster Who Had Other Plans

During the COVID lockdown in 2020, my newly graduated family and I began fostering with Saving Grace. We made it through three pups without adopting—until Ginny (then “Kelsey”), a three-month-old half-boxer puppy, arrived.

During the COVID lockdown in 2020, my newly graduated family and I began fostering with Saving Grace. We made it through three pups without adopting—until Ginny (then “Kelsey”), a three-month-old half-boxer puppy, arrived.

She was supposed to stay for just two weeks, but on her first night, she curled up and fell asleep on my dad’s chest… and never left. Ginny came into our lives after my grandmother passed away, and she filled a space in our hearts we didn’t know was so empty.

She’s his shadow, his travel buddy, and his comfort through life’s ups and downs. And yes—she sings!

We’re so grateful to Saving Grace for giving Ginny a second chance and for giving our family a forever friend.

My dad says it best: “Ginny and I, we rescued each other. You never know when you need to be rescued.”
