I’m ready to Adopt!

A dog can make an excellent addition to a family. However, like any new situation, there is likely to be a period of adjustment. There are three things that make an adoption a succes: love (of course!), patience and training!

No dog – especially a puppy – comes perfectly adapted and trained to being in a home. In fact, many dogs that come to Saving Grace may have never set foot indoors until they got to spend some time at a foster home. Messes are common as your new addition figures it out. Sometimes – especially puppies – have so much energy that they cannot contain themselves and they try to get your attention by chewing on your favorite shoe. If you are ready for both the ups and downs, let’s get to business!

Starting the Adoption Process

You’ll start the adoption process by filling out our adoption request as completely as you can. We ask lots of questions so we can be sure we place you with a dog that will fit your family dynamics and lifestyle. We want all our pups to go to furever homes, with families who will “click” with them.

Once your request has been received, it will be reviewed by our adoption team. This can take a few days – we get lots of requests each week, and we have to review each one. We want to be sure those who adopt from Saving Grace are going to give our dogs the happy life they deserve.

Submitting an adoption request does not commit you (or us) to an adoption – it just starts the process that could lead to an adoption.

If the adoption team agrees that the information submitted on your request form makes you a good candidate, you’ll be invited out to the farm to meet the available dogs.

If you hit it off and we all agree that you are ready to adopt, we’ll ask you to pay an adoption fee of $395 (this covers just a portion of the cost of getting most dogs ready to be adopted) and you’ll be able to take your new friend home!

Then – find out what happens next – move onto Step 3!

STEP 1: Understand the responsibility

Make sure you understand how adopting a pet will impact your life.

STEP 2: Apply to Adopt

STEP 3: Take them home

Once we agree you’ve found your new pet, pay your adoption fee, and take them home!

STEP 4: Love them forever!

We have some great resources to help smooth the transition, and keep your pup happy and healthy!
