Adopting an Older Dog
Many dogs come to Saving Grace after they have completed their puppy stage. They may have lost some of that baby cuteness, but they may have just enough life experience under their belt to make awesome companions right out of the gate!
Since we often do not know a dog’s history, we don’t always know how old they are (although we can make educated guesses) or what their life before had been like.
Before our older dogs go up for adoption, we spend some time with them and assess how well they will do in a home. Some will spend some time in a foster home – getting intense one-on-one love and training. Then, they might leave the farm for sleepovers with families, where they can get some rest, have some fun, and practice being adopted.
No matter what, any dog that gets adopted will need time, patience and a lot of love.
