Layla

  • Breed: Shepherd
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Medium

Layla and her sister Lila arrived from Puerto Rico late Thursday evening and have been working diligently on settling in at the farm since a most terrible of ordeals, as they tell us. Boy are they relieved to have found a place to land for just a little while until their forever families come along. Layla is perhaps the more brave of these sisters at least at this point, as both are fairly shaken up but have really come around in a short period of time. Layla is the slightly larger of these sisters and at about 1-2 years old she is full grown at about 20 lbs. Your guess is as good as ours as to the heritage of these sisters but no guesses are needed really as we all know that mutts are the best breed around. Layla sports a somewhat darker coat with some brown as well as gray and black mixed in. She has the features of a rat terrier with a longer snout and super cute ears that stand up. She has learned a lot about the yumminess of hot dogs during her few days at the farm and is happy to sit in a lap and nibble on these wonderful treats. She is super quiet in her crate and clearly is a lady who understands where the bathroom is and is not. Layla is really comfortable in her own skin around other dogs and could get along with those bigger or smaller and would likely be okay with cats as well. She might do well with a canine companion to help show her around the town and introduce her to the suburban life as Layla is used to a more rural setting though is happy to learn and expand her horizons. She has wondered about why it is so chilly on some mornings here in North Carolina and therefore wants to point out that she would look fabulous in a sweater come fall and winter and her blood is a bit thinner having grown up a tropical girl! We suspect she will learn to walk on a leash in short stay and would be a pretty awesome lap dog who is portable yet can be sporty and keep up with walks no matter how long or short they might be. We are certain language will not be a barrier for this lady as hot dog is an international language that supersedes any challenge! All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their shots, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please e-mail a completed Adoption Application to savinggrace@savinggracenc.org. An Application is required before setting up an appointment to meet with a foster home and potential adoptee. The Adoption Application and Adoption Contract can be downloaded from the Petfinder Homepage or our new website at www.savinggracenc.org or by clicking on the links below: Click here to download an adoption request today. Click here to download an adoption contract. Click to see our events! Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption. Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.
